As long as they aren’t abused and they are rewarded for their efforts, I think most horses enjoy the interaction between rider and trainer. I know Dini is enjoying his ground driving. The other day when we drove up Town Hill Road, he was willing to do the whole road. Not wanting to overdo, I stopped him halfway and turned around to head back home. When I stopped him, he turned his head around and looked at me as if to say, “Aren’t we going to go on?!”. I think he would have been fine going the whole way, but then maybe he doesn’t realize he has to turn around at the bottom and climb a very steep hill back!

We must appreciate the horse and the horse’s efforts — and desire — whatever it is we do. How wonderful that Dini is enjoying his work so much. And that he knows that he can “talk” to you and you will listen.

I have actually met this chap a couple of times, Katie, very charming indeed. Do you know that he co-founded an association called Allege-Ideal (french-english) that promotes classical riding?
